show us yer wienies*!

Because we saw a fine drawing of three dachshunds* on Jeff Shelly's blog...

Here's an oldie, by Arna, in watercolour on cheapo manilla paper. I had two of these wonderful dogs as a kid -- mine were named Susie and Hank -- so I have a soft spot for them. Plus, they're fun to draw! Anybody else want to show us your sausage dogs? We can make it a dachshund* sketch-off!

*Thanks to Michael Schlingmann for the correct spelling of the breed name and Smook for the correct spelling of the word 'wienies'.

Great painting. You really captured his red coat. I'll get John T Quinn to post his daschund illustration. I'll post one later tonight I did for the Los Alamitos wiener races last summer.

lovely doggie.. almost looks like an accidental splotch of watercolor(body) sprang to life overnight and sprouted a head.

Thank you everybody for the wonderful comments! You guys are all such amazing artists I'm really chuffed to hear that you like this doggy. But where are my weiners, guys??!! Does anyone else have some daschund sketches --cartoony or realistic-- they'd like to share?

Jeff, that's a funny story about the Los Alamitos weiner races! Cute pictures of you and you dog too.
Boris, I think that you described the actual painting process on this one! Not weird at all...
Felix, we want one too! Or maybe two or three. Love seeing those ears flopping as they run!
Steve, Thanks. As I said coming from you it's a big compliment. Show us your weinie man! We know you can do it!!
Thanks Gerald! Please to meet you. Glad that you like it!
Orange... holy smoke! Since we admire your watercolors greatly, this is indeed a BIG compliment!
Smook... so glad you like it... it was a bit of fun!

Maybe I'll google up David Hockney's weiner dogs and link to him on the post too...

Thanks St John Street!

Thanks Jeff.. we've seen the fine weinie on John T. Quinn's site, and we're hoping to add his to our Part 2 sketch-off. Can we post your sketch on our blog with an apropos link?

Mike, great slogan, great sketch. It's up on Part 2.

Smook said...

IT'S YOUR SLOGAN! You wrote it to Steve in a comment above!

Hi mike1 Must be the short-term memory loss.
Yeah, and on the back of the T-shirt should go your slogan: "I feel so used"...

Jeff Shelly said...

Yes, you can take them to post on your site. Should be fun to see others.
