ROM sketch date...

Posted by John:

Here are some new sketches from today's visit to the Royal Ontario Museum. We spent a productive Friday sketching in the same area of the museum we visited several weeks ago with Mike Smukavic. This time he couldn't make it. We missed you Mike!

We'll post more of today's work over the next week, including some colour brush work from Arna.

Looks like another successful day of sketching John! Wish I could have gone this time too, would have been nice to spend the day with you and Arna. Looking forward to seeing Arna's sketches!

Cheers and have a good weekend!

You were in my favourite wing of the ROM! Terrific sketches, you've brought the artifacts to life.

Hi, Mike! And thanks! We had a great day all round. Maybe you can make it next time! Word verification was: hybudew

Glad you liked the sketches, Mauricio!

I think it's our favourite part of the museum, too, Super Freak. We've been to the ROM twice now and headed for the same place each time. They have a great collection with an excellent variety of objects and artifacts. Amazing stuff and very inspirational!

Thanks for dropping by, Sumeet and Ryan! And thank you for the kind words!

Hi Alina. I'm glad you like my drawings! Tune in again soon to see some of Arna's drawings from the same visit! :)

Wowhee! Thanks for the very kind words, Uli! I'm blushing! The Royal Ontario Museum is a great place to draw. I used to spend hours there as an art student (many) years ago. So, it's nice to return to my roots, so to speak. If you're ever going to be in Toronto, let us know and we'll arrange a ROM sketch trip with Smook, Drazen, et al! You'll meet more talented Canucks than you can shake a hockey stick at! :) Cheers, JVB.

Great drawings. I taught a semester on 'sketching the galleries' at the ROM a few years back and found it to be a treasure trove of inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
