scribble

This top image is an update on the ones below. In the older version, the menacing figure in the doorway seemed a bit cliche. I mentioned to Smook that it might look better if the figure in the doorway was something less predictable for instance, like a small alien child. This new version is actually a mash-up of a photoshop illustration I did of a child figure that was not working in it's original context. I like this new version better. It's interesting to see how the feeling in the woman's face seems to change, depending on what she's reacting to in the doorway.

Hop over to Elliot, who has posted some photos on a related theme.

This is the original pencil sketch:

Here's a version of the original with some mayang textures added:

Strong tension & atmosphere in the top one. Interesting experiment with the light 'texture' in the second version

Elliot: yes the theme is a common one- ya can't go wrong with a good sihouette in a doorway.

Hello Doodlers.
THis image of yours so reminded me of some photographs I had taken, that I spent and hour and half digging them out.
I posted them if you're at all curious.

Thomas, Felix, Kevin, St John, Elliot! Thanks very much, folks. I'm still not all that happy with this one. It's kind of an unfinished experiment. I didn't follow thru entirely on the curtain-sh treatement, and the figure in the doorway seems unresolved. It WAS fun to do tho, and that's the point, I think. These illos are a departure from the day-to-day of storyboarding and help to recharge the creative juices. Cheers- A

Hi Clio, thanks! I started this character as female, but like that you saw him as a guy. Kind of Adrian Brody-ish..?
