These are beautiful, ARNA! I especially like the study pages on the last spread. The gestures at the top are crackerjack too!
Hi Mike! So glad that you like these. High praise! These are usually done late after sculpting when I'm too tired to 'self correct'...
The first guy looks like he's Highlander about to claim his victim with his funny mace(that's a specialised technical term for a medieval weapon I just invented. Or, it could be called a ydoiiax - that's my verification word).
great drawing
Jack -hi! He's hanging on the pole.. but I agree with you that it does look like he's carrying a ydoiiax. (pronounced: Why Do I Ax?) I didn't strive for visual clarity.Chuck- hi! Thanks sir. I'm honoured that you like.~ A
Lovely...like the tone treatment to.
I knew he was hanging from a pole, but the other idea was more fun. No probs with clarity, but I recognize the discombobulation that comes when a viewer interprets one's drawing in a totally unexpected way. "Why-do-I-ax" is brill.
Jack,:) discombobulation is a great thing...leading to unexpected and often far better interpretations than the original intent.
Clive! Thanks! The tone treatement is a very simple way for me to 'set off' these shapes. Photoshop is so cool...
I love your stuff!
Thanks Celeste! Your brush drawings rock. ~Arna
Really lovely sketches!!!
Hi Kei! Much appreciated. It's true that the subway is a great place to find characters. I've my fingers crossed that there won't be a strike Monday.
Great drawings! Lively.KP
Thanks Kris! It's a great way to make the subway ride go fast...
