Sculpt and doodle...

Posted by Arna:

A recent piece done in three nights at Central Technical school. The most enjoyable part of the process was slapping the figure onto a roughed-in raised slab during the last half hour of the third night. I like the contrast between the worked figure and the less textured platform she's reclining on.

This is a sketchdoodle of no one in particular, but the model for the piece above was an influence.

thanx for stopping by my blog and for the nice comments about my recent tiger design post..Funny you say that about Dan Haskett, he is one of our board artists on Class of 3000. He actually did that board for that show the tiger is in. However, his tiger design was quite different... His skills really bring out the style of our show though....

you have some great work here, love the sculpture...

Like Richard says, it does look huge! More photography trickery?

Steve, Thanks for the visit and the note. Hope all's good in Wubbzy land.

Richard. The piece is about a foot and a half long. I get down low to take the shots so it feels larger.

Thank you to Todd, and Mauricio. Cheers you guys!

Clive! Cheers to you. We owe you a phone call. Are you snowed-in yet?

Matt, Yup, saw that movie last night. The nude wrestling was something else.

Alina, We really appreciate your kind notes, thanks!

David, Great to hear that Mr Haskett is working with you. He's truly an amazing artist; creating work with the most flowing line and shapes.

Mike, Definately trickery. I like to show the piece in relationship to actual scale, so I'll try to have someone pose beside it for reference next time.

Roland, R.A. Thanks a bunch!

Drazen, Thanks so much for visiting. Hope all's good with you.

Anon, Funny you should say that because this model was very comfortable in her own skin.

The 3rd picture down is an amazing angle. I'm in love with that thigh!!!!!!!!! I want to taste it but will refrain..for now.

Incredible sculpt. Hope it stays that loose at the end. Now the hard work starts- how to keep that energy?!

Matthew, The model was a voluptous lass, easy to be inspired by her. Thanks! I've seen your own sculpts and I really appreciate your compliments. Just so you know, I only had time to take the piece this far. What I photographed was the end result. It stays rough, so there's no danger of overworking this one! I'll probably trash it soon, since it's too big to cast ($$$$ and time).

Martin, you ought to try sculpting. It's great fun and I find it gives my 2d art a boost as well. I'm sure you will produce some fabulous pieces!
