Here are the last of the sketches from our July 7th visit to the Royal Ontario Museum. The first two are by Arna:
These next two are by John:
This fellow looks like he's giving us the finger. Such un-monk-like behavior! ;)
And this one is Arna's sketch of John sketching:

Justin, Mauricio, Ryan, Lee, Ric, Evan, thank you all for dropping by and leaving the kind compliments. If you can ever get to the Royal Ontario Museum, even though it's still under renovation, you won't be dissapointed by the Chinese exhibit.
We're amazed to see the incredibly diverse and vibrant work bloggers put up. You guys continue to post work that greatly inspires us. Thanks.
What a great sketch of John, what kind of pencil did you use?
Hi Stef, Thanks! I scribbled with a Derwent, then mostly used a Staedtler Mars graphic 300 duo brush marker~ navy blue for the darks and brown for the lights. I had to do it fast- maybe 5 minutes because he was just finishing up and ready to move.
The sketch was too busy; too much colour, so later I made it grayscale in Photoshop. I also lightened up the face because the original was waaay too dark- muddy really. Plus there's a bit of photoshop brushwork added at the last minute. Photoshop saves many a drawing for me!
Very cool stuff! I love going to museums but I take more pictures than I draw.
